01 Information We Collect
We collect information to provide, maintain, and improve our services. The information we collect falls into two categories:
Information You Provide Directly
- Account information — your name, email address, phone number, and password when you register.
- Business information — for salon/spa owners: business name, address, GPS location, services offered, pricing, and stylist details.
- Booking information — appointment dates, times, selected services, and stylist preferences.
- Reviews & photos — star ratings, written reviews, and photos you choose to upload after a visit.
- Support communications — messages you send us via email or WhatsApp.
Information Collected Automatically
- Usage data — pages visited, features used, and time spent within the platform.
- Device information — browser type, operating system, IP address, and device identifiers.
- Location data — approximate GPS coordinates when you grant permission, used to surface nearby salons within 20km.
- Cookies & similar technologies — session tokens, preference cookies, and analytics identifiers (see Section 5).
02 How We Use Your Information
We use your information for the following purposes:
- To create and maintain your account and authenticate your identity.
- To process and manage appointment bookings and live queue positions.
- To send transactional notifications — booking confirmations, status updates, cancellation alerts — via email and SMS.
- To enable salon owners to manage their business operations on the platform.
- To display your reviews and photos on relevant salon profiles (only with your active submission).
- To power GPS-based discovery of nearby grooming services.
- To analyse platform usage and improve our features, performance, and security.
- To respond to your support queries and resolve disputes.
- To comply with applicable Indian laws and regulations.
03 Sharing Your Data
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share your data only in the following limited circumstances:
- With salon owners you book with — your name, contact number, and service selection are shared with the business you have booked, so they can confirm your appointment and manage their queue.
- With SMS/email service providers — we use third-party services (e.g. Twilio, AWS SES) solely to deliver transactional notifications on our behalf.
- With analytics providers — anonymised, aggregated usage data to understand how the platform is used.
- For legal reasons — when required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of Bookchair, our users, or the public.
- In a business transfer — if Bookchair is acquired or merges with another entity, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction, with prior notice to you.
04 Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored on secure servers located in India. We implement industry-standard security measures including:
- HTTPS/TLS encryption for all data in transit.
- Bcrypt password hashing — we never store plaintext passwords.
- Firewalled database servers not directly accessible from the internet.
- Regular security audits and access controls limiting who can view your data.
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide services. You can request deletion at any time (see Section 6).
05 Cookies & Tracking
Bookchair uses cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, and understand how you use the platform. For full details on what cookies we use and how to manage them, please read our Cookie Policy.
Essential cookies are strictly necessary for the platform to function. You may disable non-essential cookies through your browser settings, though this may affect some features.
06 Your Rights
As a user of Bookchair, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction — update inaccurate or incomplete information via your account settings.
- Deletion — request that we delete your account and associated personal data.
